Welcome to Osage Middle School!
Mission: To sustain and enhance a caring community to produce enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
My name is Jay Marley. It is an honor to have served in the Osage School District as teacher, coach, athletic director, and now serving as principal at the Osage Middle School. The Osage CSD is progressive and provides excellent opportunities for children of all ages.
Osage is the county seat of Mitchell County providing many activities and emergency services. Active economic development, low unemployment, low SES, plans for upgrades, and low staff turnover combine to provide a stable enrollment and financial stability, which further results in high academic/activity standards.
Osage Middle School serves around 300 of our district's 1,000 students. Osage Middle School has three (3) sections of 5th grade with a total of 65 students. Our 6th, 7th, & 8th grades offer three (3) to four (4) sections per grade level depending on the course offering. We have great opportunities for exploratory classes, some of which are taught by shared high school staff.
Programming & course offerings include:
English, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, General Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, Chorus, Tag, ELL, Band, Family Consumer Science, Art, Physical Education, Spanish, Ag, Project Lead the Way, Industrial Tech, Careers, Keyboarding, Health, and Advance Technology.
My educational background includes graduating from Riceville High School, earning my bachelor's degree in physical education & health at University of Northern Iowa, and earning my master's degree in educational leadership at Grand Canyon University. My educational experience started in the Osage school system in 2001 and I currently serving as 5-8 middle school principal and middle school athletic director. I began my principalship in Osage in the fall of 2012.
I look forward to working with you throughout the upcoming school year!
